Rock Steady Vibe

Something to do on my days off, basically.

Don't Leave Home Without It

On Black Friday, my friend had her debit card, her American Express card and all her cash stolen out of her handbag. The thief (or thieves) then drove up to King of Prussia mall and spent over $1,000 on her debit, and $10,000 on her AmEx. All of this is so upsetting, and I feel so bad for my friend, and so angry at whoever stole these things from her (especially at the holidays!). Fortunately, American Express isn't holding my friend responsible for any of the charges, and her bank will refund her checking account for her debit card losses within 10 days. All the same, I find myself getting more and more pissed off that the American Express company didn't see anything wrong with someone spending 10 grand in a matter of four hours. I understand it was Black Friday and all, but c'mon. Who spends $10,000 in four hours (besides Michael Jackson or Jessica Simpson) without raising a red flag? I know if I use my MasterCard too much, they call me to make sure it's actually me using the card. Where were you on Black Friday, American Express???

These boots are made for walkin'

Jessica and Nick are DONE. Their over-worked publicist finally came out and confirmed what we've known to be true for over a month now.

The Super Bowl of Love... finally.

Dave Letterman announced yesterday that Oprah Winfrey has relented in her cold shoulder towards him and has agreed to appear on his show on December 1. If you are unfamiliar, Letterman has been pleading with Oprah on his show for years now to please come visit him. Her visit will coincide with the opening of The Color Purple as a Broadway musical the same day.

Incidentally, what's the deal with making The Color Purple into a Broadway musical? Was that absolutely necessary?

Still waiting for the No Tara Reid shirt.

Here we see the classy and always elegant Ms. Tara Reid, leaving her 30th birthday party at Mood in L.A. Whoever thought to purchase these gifts for Ms. Reid is, indeed, a true friend. As we all know, Tara Reid has a knack for having paparazzi catch her at the most inopportune times doing the most embarrassing things (or showing off X-rated areas of her body). So keep those clothes on, Tara, god bless and happy 30th! (Photo courtesy of MSN Entertainment).

It's a nice day for a white wedding...

Christina Aguilera got hitched to her longtime boyfriend Jordan Bratman this past Saturday. They were married at a vineyard in Napa Valley, and Aguilera wore a Christian Lacroix dress with jewels and flowers in her hair. Kinda low-key for a girl who writhed around in mud for her "Dirrty" video, no?

Long-Awaited Beer With Bush Really Awkward

In addition to this headlining article, The Onion is fantastic this week. It's definitely the best it's been in a long time.

Hmmm...

I was so happy tonight when I opened my email -- 12 new messages! How popular am I? Yeah, turns out that I'm really not. Only ONE of those messages was from an actual friend -- all the rest from various websites that I frequent. Maybe I should stop putting in my email address every time I visit a new website? Just a thought.

Writing WHAT, I wonder?

Reality show "writers" have their panties in a knot, and they want more money. I'm sorry... reality show writers? If it's reality, they shouldn't have to write anything, should they? This is not to imply that (gasp!) these shows are strictly reality, is it????

Tomorrow!

Madonna latest, Confessions on a Dancefloor, will drop tomorrow. According to reviews, she's returning to her roots with this one. Woo-hoo!

On Again

Sienna Miller is quite obviously an idiot. She and Jude "Cheated With the Nanny" Law are back on again. She and Law appeared together at the "Casanova" premiere -- well, not together -- they walked the red carpet separately -- but you know. Miller all but confirmed the reunion to reporters later on, saying, "Well, it's pretty obvious, isn't it?"

But Siriusly...

Howard Stern was suspended for one day for talking too much about his move to satellite radio on Sirius. I'm really surprised to hear that Infinity Broadcasting even bothers trying to censor Howard Stern anymore. Come the new year, they're not going to have him anymore, and I highly doubt they'll get anyone else who's half as successful. At this point, who cares what he says?

And I'm sure there's more to the story, but it isn't it in the Constitution that Americans are allowed the freedom of speech? I seem to remember seeing that somewhere...

Ashlee Simpson's an A-hole

I saw the video the other night of Ashlee Simpson throwing a fit in a Toronto McDonald's, but it was kind of hard to understand what was being said. This article deciphers everything for us.

Tell me again why she's famous?

T.O. -- DONE!

Andy Reid announced today that Terrell Owens will not play for the Eagles again this season... or possibly ever. It was good while it lasted, but the guy doesn't seem to know when to keep his big mouth shut. Godspeed, T.O.

Fran Healy to be a dad!

For those of you who are unaware, Fran Healy is the lead singer of Travis -- one of my most favorite bands, and I am a huge fan of Healy's Scottish accent. He and his fiancee Nora (whom he has dedicated his albums to) are expecting their first child together. Congratulations!

Most, commas, like, ever.

The queries that get sent in to Query Letters I Love are usually plagued by numerous problems, and one of the most common is comma way-over-usage. But this... this just takes the cake...

The Man in Black

Only 12 more days until the release of Walk The Line, the biopic of Johnny Cash. I am really pumped for this movie. I LOVE Johnny Cash. From the sounds of early reviews, Joaquin Phoenix has done a good job in portraying him. Also, Reese Witherspoon is apparently on tap for an Oscar for her spin as June Carter Cash -- the role I'm still on the fence about. I like Reese Witherspoon, but I don't know how I feel about her as June. I guess we'll see. Either way, I don't think I'm likely to be disappointed. November 18th!
